I finally got some sleep last night. I think, possibly, 6 consecutive hours. That’s huge. I did have a low-grade fever last night (99.6), but I’m not really surprised, even though I’m on two major antibiotics (IV). Two nights of temps just seems to be my pattern (my immune system is OCD), So, I would be surprised if it came back tonight.
Despite getting a decent amount of sleep, I woke up with a headache. It’s still here, after a dose of Tylenol and a cup of their coffee like substance. I’m hoping the cup of tea I have sitting here will chase away the last of it.
Last night, I had a delicious dinner – beer battered fish tacos from Taco Nano, courtesy of my ‘rents. Thanks Mom & Dad! Tonight, I’m not sure what I’m having, but I am looking forward to Hubs and The Girl coming to visit. He’s going to bring her by after work. I’m not sure if she’s technically supposed to be here, but as he pointed out, there’s no one checking the comings and goings of visitors. It is kind of weird that there’s no security at all. The only thing they do is give patients a secret code for visitors or callers, and no one is told where you are or put through on the phone without that info. But, I have my cell phone with me, and that’s how I’d rather be reached anyway.
I just got my bloodwork results from this morning. My WBC (white blood cell count) is up to 1.2 (thousand) from .7 yesterday, and my ANC (the infection fighters) are up to 300 from 200 yesterday. Yay – trending upward! I’m not sure what the magic numbers need to be to let me go home, but I’ll find out. Hopefully, I’ll remain fever free tonight and Alla will release me tomorrow on my own recognizance (and oral antibiotics).
*UPDATE* Alla came by. Since my #s are going up, as long as I’m afebrile (fever-free) tonight, she’ll let me go home tomorrow. When I mentioned my headache, she said, “Neutropenic headache.” I said, “Really?” and she said, “Yeah, you always get a headache on Tuesdays.” I honestly hadn’t noticed that trend, but I guess I’ve mentioned it each time I’ve gone in for my bloodwork during this week of the chemo cycle. See… OCD immune system – I’m nothing if not consistent.
