Neulasta Appointment – May 7, 2015

I went back yesterday for my Neulasta appointment. I’ve been taking Claritin, which some say helps mitigate the side effects, like the bone pain (remember, when we weren’t sure if it was from that or Prednisone withdrawal?). So, we’ll see how it goes.

When I was a kid, 9 West was the floor I was on each time I was admitted for Crohn's issues to Children's Memorial Hospital. When I pulled into my parking space at Glenbrook (The first visit where I've felt well enough to park myself instead of valet), I looked up and saw this sign. It reminded me of those days: friends made who are no longer here or with whom I've lost touch, but mostly, I remembered how much I learned about being strong, and learning how to be an educated patient. Thanks, 9 West, for having my back again!

The rash on my face (I don’t think I mentioned that. It looked like acne, but itchy) cleared up with a few days of cortisone cream, so that’s good. Let’s see, what else? Oh, I’ve said that my near vision is in the toilet. I’m up to 2.00 on my readers now. The good news is that in some chemo patients, that reverses itself when the treatment is over. In not so good news, it may be permanent. I’ll just have to wait and see. It’s definitely hard to get used to after never having to wear glasses or contacts. Next up: the hunt for cute sunglass readers. I’ll definitely need those this summer!

Meanwhile, I’m happy to say that today, some of the stubble on my head finally started coming out. Why happily? Because that stuff is like velcro! It’s weird beyond weird. Stuff just sticks to it. Random stuff like fuzz, cat hair, feathers… at one point, I think there might have been a dwarf hamster stuck to my head. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I’ll go rub some more of that stubble off of my head.

Original Comments from the CaringBridge Blog:

Feathers 😂😂. You kill me. Your caring bridge journal is better than 50 Shades. 😘
